The Sorceress
Oh, to be a naked woman kneeling in the grass
Hello, happy Wednesday to you ☺️🤍
Here are a few things I’ve loved this week…
A Picture:
Oh, to be a naked woman kneeling in the grass, kept warm only by your long hair and the fire you’re creating…
Something I read:
This story really filled my heart. There’s something about how they’re running in sync, like it means you can tell they’re brothers. 🤍
Here’s the full caption:
After I picked my son up from prison, I took a detour and drove him to Lake Michigan before heading to the parole office. We had been ordered to check in within four hours of his release. The drive home would take three and a half, so I made an executive decision.
I have a surprise for you, I said.
For weeks, I had envisioned him standing beside the big water again, standing under the wide open sky, breathing fresh air, standing on the Earth untethered.
But that was my wish.
I wasn’t sure if he would want to be that exposed right away. He had just left an 8×10 cell where he spent 22 hours per day, and I had read that wide open spaces can be difficult post-release. He hadn’t even been in the front seat of a car, let alone facing a vast shoreline, in years.
When we pulled up to the lake and parked, he slowly exited the car. Right behind him, my youngest son who has only ever known his brother in prison visiting rooms. They looked at each other and then suddenly took off running—racing each other, laughing.
Prison shoes and all, he was free.
I hadn’t really cried until that moment. As they got further and further from me, I completely broke. We are going to be okay, the sky and water and earth as our witness.

Oh, Flora! I love this! I had a pretty tough week and reading this made me smile. I don’t know why but it was what I needed today.
