Too competitive for a wedding...
đ¤Śââď¸
Hello, and a particularly warm welcome to those new to the love letter!
(and to those of you who arenât! A warm welcome to all of you, always đ¤)
I have been having a great week - a highlight of which was putting together this selection of things Iâve lovedâŚ
A picture:
It feels very awkward to share a photo of myself as something Iâm âlovingâ this week đ but context is everything, and here it is:
I spent most of my school years, university, and early 20âs playing competitive sport but since I moved to South Africa, 8 and half years ago, I have done very little, other than a few trail running races. And because my competitiveness doesnât have a regular outlet these days, I find it tends to bubble over at not-so-opportune moments⌠like a wedding.
This photo was shared with me yesterday when a dear friend got her wedding photos back. During the reception, the MC had announced there would be a competition - one person from each table would complete a series of tasks, slowest person to complete each task was knocked out until there was one winner. This photo was taken when I was sprinting back from task number 2, âpick a roseâ. I had tied my jumpsuit around my legs so that the flapping wouldnât slow me down.
I canât help laughing whenever I look at it - you can see the joy mixed with the blind desire to win (I came second đ). It reminds me of a part of myself that I rarely see these days, and it feels good to be reminded of her đ¤.
A great idea:
I took Ava to the local botanical gardens this weekend and I saw that they have this stand at the entrance:
A âWhatâs in Flowerâ display so you can walk around the gardens spotting things in bloom! Absolutely love that.
A painting:
Teeny, tiny cow parsley. I always hear the phrase âcow parsleyâ in my mumâs voiceđ¤.
A Moment:
My daughter picked out her favourite book, and sat next to our cat on the beanbag to read to him. My heart exploded right there and then, and I will likely never recover. These are the moments of life.
A Reminder:
Thank you for reading this weekâs love letter! I hope you found something in here that you enjoyed. If there was something that happened in your week that you loved, please share it with me, I would love to hear it. Message me, reply to this email, or comment - whatever you fancy - but please do share, I really would love to hear it. :)
